WHAT TO EXPECT?
A 5-day, 4-night itinerary in the Northern Pantanal, for wildlife observation, with a focus on jaguars in the first half of the tour, and the Pantanal fauna in general in the second half.
Our strategic location in the Porto Jofre region on the banks of the Cuiabá River is the best place on the planet for jaguar-watching.
The tour begins in the city of São Paulo, SP, and our meeting point is Guarulhos International Airport. We take a direct flight in the morning to the city of Cuiabá, capital of the state of Mato Grosso. Upon arrival in Cuiabá, we travel by air-conditioned car to the Hotel Santa Rosa in Porto Jofre.
The main focus of the tour is jaguar-watching and the Pantanal fauna in general, which is one of the richest on the planet, both in variety and quantity. The tour is divided into two stages: the first focused on jaguar-watching on the Cuiabá River, and the second focused on the Pantanal fauna in general, at Pouso Alegre Lodge.
The Pantanal is one of the last refuges for a large number of mammals that once abounded throughout South America, such as the jaguar, puma, ocelot, maned wolf, tapir, giant anteater, giant otter, capybara, deer, and many others.
The tour is organized by photographer and wildlife filmmaker Rafael Guadeluppe, founder of the video production company Latin Wild Films and author of the documentary about the Atlantic Forest “The Pulse of the Atlantic Forest”.

DAY BY DAY
Day 01 – Trip São Paulo-SP x Santa Rosa Lodge
Our meeting point for the tour is Guarulhos International Airport in São Paulo. Our direct flight to Cuiabá departs at 9:00 am and takes 2 hours and 20 minutes, with an estimated arrival time of 10:30 am. From there, we’ll head to Santa Rosa Lodge via the Transpantaneira Highway, a journey that takes between 5 and 8 hours, depending on road conditions. We’ll have lunch en route in Poconé.
Day 02 – Jaguar watching
Full day dedicated to exploring the region’s rivers with our exclusive speedboats in search of jaguar images.
Day 03 – Jaguar watching + Trip to Pouso Alegre Lodge
Morning dedicated to jaguar observation and after lunch trip to Pouso Alegre Lodge, the trip has an estimated duration of 2:30 minutes, but it can take longer as we will stop along the way whenever we see an interesting scene.
Day 04 – Wildlife observation at Pouso Alegre Lodge
We will explore the trails of our Lodge all day long. A series of trails scattered throughout each sector of the farm gives access to different environments, such as: dry forests, flooded forests, savannahs, fields and swamps, providing the opportunity to sighting all kinds of native fauna of the Pantanal. You can choose to do them before or after coffee, or even at dusk (with the exception of those that interfere with observation areas as the waterholes.
Day 05 – Morning trails and return to São Paulo
We will explore the trails of our Lodge during the morning and after lunch we will head to Cuiabá International Airport, our flight leaves for São Paulo at 6:15 pm, with an estimated arrival time of 9:35 pm.
