PRIVATE TOUR ANY DATE | WHERE: STATE OF MINAS GERAIS – BRAZILIAN CERRADO | 7 DAYS / 6 NIGHTS
WHAT TO EXPECT?
Itinerary with 7 days and 6 nights in the Serra da Canastra, departing from the city of São Paulo. The focus of the expedition is wildlife observation, and for this we will drive around the mountain range, passing through the main cities, villages and tourist attractions of the region.
Much of the vegetation in the Serra da Canastra consists of natural fields, which favors the observation of animals. Our strategy to photograph and observe animals in their natural habitat is to drive slowly along the park roads, observing the surrounding fields, looking for large animals such as the Pampas Deer, Rhea, Giant Anteater and Maned Wolf, birds and interesting landscapes that we find along the way. Every time we find something interesting we stop the car and get out to photograph it.
On the first expedition to the area, this strategy worked very well; we saw many Pampas Deer, birds and 5 Giant Anteaters. I believe that the Serra da Canastra National Park is the best place on the planet to photograph this species.
The park is a true Brazilian natural paradise, protecting rare vegetation of high-altitude natural grasslands, boasting iconic landscapes and a diverse fauna that finds its ideal habitat in these fields. It is home to the largest concentration of maned wolves on the planet, with an estimated population of 140 individuals.
The expedition is organized by photographer and wildlife filmmaker Rafael Guadeluppe, founder of the video production company Latin Wild Films and author of the documentary about the Atlantic Forest “The Pulse of the Atlantic Forest”.
In short, it’s an expedition for those who enjoy nature trails, have the stamina, and are interested in wildlife observation. Many people ask if you need to be a photographer or biologist to participate in our expeditions, and the answer is a resounding no. Many people who participate in our expeditions don’t even carry cameras; they come simply for the pleasure of observing animals in their natural habitat. Of course, when we get a good shot, we can spend a good amount of time photographing the animals, so I emphasize that it’s a trip for those who truly enjoy wildlife observation. And also emphasizing that we cannot guarantee the sighting of any species, what we can guarantee is that we will be in the right places with the best team to find as many species as possible. The date is ideal, so we expect to encounter a large number of species during our expedition.
